Microsoft Windows 11

Have windows 11 for 3 years, this last update, my HP desk top now asked to reset TPM or no for current.

Does anyone know what happens when you say yes to reset?

Greetings @jhop2

Welcome to the HP Forum.

You don't want to reset the TPM if Windows Device Encryption (BitLocker) is enabled. Check Control Panel>Device Encryption for BitLocker Status.

Resetting the TPM may remove the current BitLocker recovery key. This recovery key may be required to log in to Windows at some point in time.

You may have to reinstall W11 if you cannot log in to Windows.

I don't use BitLocker since I don't need it.

Regards

Thanks for your help, I am not sure how it ever got erased or deleted. But figured I would have to reinstall windows 11. I just don't know how secure it is with leaving it. Thanks
