I'm trying to set up my desktop to wake from sleep so my iDrive can perform a backup. I tried to schedule a wake up on TaskScheduler, but can't get it to work. Advice?

Hi @tjf2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm trained to only provide information related to HP products and services. For general advice, you might want to try some common steps to troubleshoot task scheduler issues with waking up your computer. However, if your desktop is an HP product, I can give more specific advice related to HP devices.

Here are some general steps:

Ensure Wake Timers are Enabled:

  • Go to the Control Panel > Power Options.

  • Click on "Change plan settings" for your current power plan.

  • Select "Change advanced power settings."

  • Navigate to "Sleep" > "Allow wake timers" and ensure they are enabled.

Check Task Scheduler Settings:

  • Open Task Scheduler by searching for it in the Windows search bar.

  • Find your backup task in the library.

  • Go to the "Conditions" tab and ensure that "Wake the computer to run this task" is checked.

  • Verify in the "Actions" tab that your backup program is set to run.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Some computers may have BIOS/UEFI settings that affect whether the system can be woken by tasks. Check in your computer’s BIOS/UEFI settings for options related to 'Wake on LAN', 'Wake on Timer', etc.

Driver Updates:

  • Ensure that all drivers, particularly those related to power management, are up to date.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
