I have the same 'task bar freezing' issue on the ProDesk 400 G6 and it occurs several times an hour.

I have followed the advice and unticked 'show search highlights'  and it seems to have worked.

Yes, this seems to be the "fix" I was looking for!  My G2 All-in-One was continually freezing after a series of early May updates (including a BIOS update from HP).  But after trying everything (DISM, sfc, etc.) I saw this suggestion - and it's working!

Hi,

we stumbled upon this problem a week ago and tried to fix it ourselves and we probably found a solution.

Looks like the problem lies within the current Intel graphics driver colliding with the 'Show Search Highlights'.
So we looked into it and downloaded the Intel HD630 (igfx_win_101.1994.exe) driver which seems to have been working for a week now.

Problem occured on 4 PCs - HP G4 600SFF.

Hope this helps some of you who still can't fix it. 🙂

Still recommend turning off the 'Show Search Highlights' function.
(Also probably doesn't work if you hide the whole search bar, which was the first thing we did. You need to turn off the 'Show Search Highlights' function first, then the search bar.)

Newby here. How do I delete that program please

HP Recommended

It's a setting rather than a program. Right click the system tray, go up to Search and then remove the tick from Show Search Highlights.

Updating the intel graphics driver also looks like an option: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/products/98909/graphics/intel-hd-graphics-family/int...

Same issue with HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Desktop-Mini

I have a Probook 450 G7.

Same issue here. Unfortunately, disabling "Show Search Highlights" doesn't fix the problem.
