HP Z1 G8 Tower Desktop PC (29Y16AV)

My computer has recently been showing this kind of message in the middle of use and then crashes. I’m not sure what the cause is. Could you let me know how to fix it?

Hi @人帥真好

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on your HP laptop can be caused by several issues, such as hardware problems, software conflicts, driver issues, or even corrupted system files. Here's a step-by-step guide to help diagnose and fix the BSOD issue you're experiencing:

1. Check for Error Codes

When your computer crashes with a BSOD, it will usually display an error code (like 0x0000007E, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA). This code can help pinpoint the cause of the issue. If you can write down or remember the code, it can be useful in troubleshooting.

2. Update Drivers

Outdated or incompatible drivers are one of the most common causes of BSODs.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click on the Start button, select Device Manager).
  • Expand Display adapters, right-click on your graphics driver, and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Update Other Key Drivers (Network, Audio, etc.):

  • In Device Manager, update other drivers (such as Network adapters, Sound, etc.) by right-clicking and selecting Update driver.

Alternatively, you can visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers specific to your laptop model.

3. Run Windows Update

Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as Microsoft releases patches to fix known BSOD issues.

  1. Open Settings (Windows + I).
  2. Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  3. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

4. Check for Corrupted System Files

Corrupted system files can often cause BSODs. You can run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to repair these files:

  1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" in the Start menu, right-click it, and select Run as administrator).
  2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
  3. Wait for the scan to finish. If issues are found, SFC will attempt to fix them automatically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
