Hi @81Rookie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the keyboard available for testing in HP Diagnostics does not match the actual keyboard on your HP Envy laptop, there are a few potential reasons for this discrepancy. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue.

  • Update HP Diagnostics: Ensure that you have the latest version of HP Diagnostics installed on your laptop. Manufacturers often release updates to their diagnostic tools, and using the latest version may resolve compatibility issues.
  • Check HP Support: Visit the official HP support website and check for any updates or patches related to the HP Diagnostics tool. There may be specific information or solutions available for cases where the tool does not recognize the correct hardware.
  • Alternative Testing Methods: While HP Diagnostics may be the preferred tool, you can also explore alternative keyboard testing methods. There are third-party keyboard testing tools available that you can use to check the functionality of your keyboard. Just be sure to download such tools from reputable sources to avoid potential security risks.
  • Check Device Manager: Verify that your keyboard is properly recognized in the Windows Device Manager. If there are any issues with the keyboard driver, updating or reinstalling it might help. Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager," locate the "Keyboards" section, and ensure that your keyboard is listed without any warning symbols.
  • Windows Update: Make sure that your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for hardware compatibility issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for and install any available updates.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the keyboard testing issue on your HP Envy laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
