OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0034

Please refer to my last post about this flawed update  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Optional-Driver-Update-1-85-4367... but this time HP sent out the same update but with Driver Update (1.85.4368.0).  They only changed the update number from (1.85.4367.0) to (1.85.4368.0) and sent it back out and did not fix the problem I and others have described in my original post. Why would I want to install some bloatware like HP Display Control from some third party that will not even install to begin with when I use NVIDIA and I have their NVIDIA Control Panel which is way better. The only way one can fix this issue after installing the flawed update is to roll back that driver in Device Manager by going to Software Components Device then open HP App Enabling Service then open the Driver tab in that and select roll back and restart you computer and everything should go back to normal.

Below is my earlier post about this:

Today I received a optional update for HP Inc. Driver Update (1.85.4367.0) For HP App Enabling Service in the Software Components Device and I installed it on my desktop and my wife's laptop HP Envy with no problems however after I installed this update I started getting two Event 1013 MSinstaller errors at each restart and at boot up on both computers. I saw in my event viewer it was trying to install HP Display Control Service which is a 3rd party program from www.Portrait.Com and why this was happening is beyond me. What I did was went to the Software Components Device in Device Manager and I rolled back the HP Inc. Driver Update (1.85.4367.0) back to (1.83.4311.0) in the HP App Enabling Service on both computers and when I did that the 1013 MSinstaller errors did not happen on both computers upon restart and reboot. I have never heard of or used HP Display Control Service and do not want it or need junk like that from some 3rd party whether legit or not. Why would HP send out an optional driver update like that tries to install a 3rd party program.  HP needs to fix this optional Driver Update (1.85.4367.0) for the HP App Enabling Service in the Device Managers Software Components  and resend it back out to users again as an optional update and not try to install this HP Display Control Service junk from a 3rd party and cause 1013 MSinstall errors. Personally I do not want to see these needless errors every time we  start or restart our computers.

Thanks for the information. @DonT54

I managed to block the update before it installed automatically. I used --- wushowhide.diagcab

What's with this latest harassment from you guys?

Hello
In the meantime, Windows is already offering a new optional update again as 1.85.4369.0. Does anyone know if this will solve the problems? Thanks.

Hello MaxRomeo and I did see that optional update 1.85.4369.0. I did install that update on my desktop and also on my wife's laptop yesterday. I restarted each computer and rebooted each computer several times and did not see those errors come up so it is suffice to say that HP finally got that update taken care of. I will keep an eye out and if I see any problems then I will surely post what I see here. I think it is safe to update now but if you see anything then let us know.

@DonT54.  Thanks….

Hi Bailo. It looks like you will need to roll back that driver you installed that is causing those event viewer warnings so please refer to my original post above and follow what I did to resolve the issue that is in italics. It would appear that HP has fixed the bug in that update and has sent a new update out several days ago which does not contain the HP Display Control that the system is trying to install. The new update is 1.85.4369.0 . See discussion below.
