I have an older Touch Smart 310 that won't boot. The power light comes on and sounds like it will start then stops
Just a black screen. I tried unplugging all cords and keyboard and mouse then holding power button for 15 seconds. The hook back up. I also tried F10 to enter bios

Hi @BarbieS51,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about your TouchSmart 310 not booting—these issues can be frustrating, especially when the steps you've tried haven't resolved the problem. Let's work through it together.
- Do you hear any beeping sounds or notice any blinking light patterns when attempting to power it on?
- When you press F10 to enter the BIOS, does the screen remain completely black, or does it show any faint signs of backlight or display activity?
- Have there been any recent hardware or software changes before the issue started?
Let's try these steps.
Perform a Power Reset
- Unplug the power cord and remove any external devices (USB drives, peripherals, etc.).
- Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the power cable and try turning it on again.
Check Display Functionality
- Shine a flashlight at the screen when powered on to check for any faint images or text. This can help identify if the issue is with the display or the system itself.
- If you have an external monitor, connect it to the system to see if it displays anything.
Inspect Power and Fan Activity
- Confirm that the power light remains steady and that the internal fans are spinning.
- If the fans spin momentarily and stop, it could indicate a power supply or motherboard issue.
Reseat RAM Modules
- Open the back panel of your TouchSmart 310 and locate the RAM modules.
- Carefully remove and reinsert the RAM into their slots to ensure a proper connection.
- If you have multiple RAM sticks, try booting with one at a time to identify if one is faulty.
Attempt a Recovery or Diagnostic Tool
- Turn on the computer and repeatedly press F11 to access recovery tools.
- If this doesn’t work, try creating a bootable USB with diagnostic tools (like MemTest86 or HP Diagnostics) on another computer and boot from it.
