Hallo Forengemeinde,
nachdem Crash meines alten PC's hab ich mir den gebrauchten HP Compaq 8000 Elite Convertible MiniTower ohne Betriebssystem zugelegt.
Serien-Nr. : [personal info removed]
Mainboard : ON-B 536455-001
Festplatte an SATA Port 2 erkannt.
Als Übergangslösung steckt diese an SATA 1, wo eigentlich das DVD-RW Laufwerk angeschlossen ist.
mfg Matthias

Hi:
You need this driver for the PCI serial port...
This package contains the Intel Local Management Service (LMS) and Serial-over-LAN (SOL) support for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) for the supported desktop models and operating systems. This software is part of the Intel Digital Office Initiative.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45367.exe
If you install this Windows 8 Intel chipset driver, that should give you the correct SATA AHCI controller...
This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported models and operating systems. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58865.exe
Restart the PC after installing the Intel chipset driver.

You're very welcome.
The only other things it could be are:
1. The ports have been made unavailable in the BIOS, under the security settings.
See the F10 setup guide at the link below, page 7...Device security. Enable the two ports.
Device Security Allows you to set Device Available/Device Hidden for:
● Serial ports
● Parallel port
● System audio
● Network controllers (some models)
● Legacy diskette
● Embedded security device (some models)
● SATA0
● SATA1 (some models)
● SATA2 (some models)
● SATA3 (some models)
2. Both ports are defective, and there would be nothing you can do other than to replace the motherboard.
