Hi @Uzzi_Arnold,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Microsoft account is not recognizing the serial number of your HP laptop, you can try the following steps.

Double-Check the Serial Number: Ensure that you're entering the serial number exactly as it appears on your device. Sometimes, the serial number is printed in a small font and could be easy to misread or mistype.

Use the HP Support Assistant:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant on your laptop.
  • Go to the My Devices section, and it should show your device along with the serial number.
  • Use this serial number to verify it when linking to your Microsoft account.

Check Your Device Registration:

  • Go to the Microsoft Devices page (https://account.microsoft.com/devices) and check if your device is already linked there.
  • If it’s not listed, try adding the serial number manually in the "Add a device" section.

Update the BIOS: Sometimes, updating your laptop’s BIOS can help resolve issues with recognizing the serial number. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest BIOS update for your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
