USB Connection Issue

Good evening!

I'm having trouble with connecting devices through USB. Sometimes the computer will recognize the device and sometimes it won't. I spent hours with a windows tech support, and he did many things like checking for updates, meddled with drivers, ran some diagnostics, and ended up stating that they did everything possible, but problem persists. He recommended I reached to HP support in hopes to finding an answer as to why the USB port is working intermittently.
