Unable to enable speakers on HP Omen Gaming computer on Windows 11.
Windows Sound (mmsys.cpl) says:
DigitalOutput, NVDIA High DefinitionAudio Disabled unpluged
NVIDIA Output, NVDIA High DefinitionAudio Disabled unpluged
Speakers, "Realtek(R) Audio Not Plugged In"
The sound was just working through the speakers but it had a low level hum,
I reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to recommended defaults in Systems > Sound > Volume Mixer and now I only get sound coming from my monitor and I can not re-enable the speakers.

Hi @TimDK,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like there may be an issue with the audio settings or drivers on your HP Omen Gaming computer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that the speakers are properly plugged into the audio jack on your computer.
- If you're using external speakers, make sure they are powered on and connected to the correct audio port.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve audio-related issues. Restart your computer and check if the speakers are recognized.
Update Audio Drivers:
- Go to the HP support website or the device manager on your computer to check for updated audio drivers for your specific model.
- Download and install the latest drivers, and then restart your computer.
Check Sound Settings:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
- Under the "Output" section, ensure that the correct output device (speakers) is selected.
Enable Disabled Audio Devices:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
- Scroll down to the "Advanced sound options" link and click on it.
- In the next window, check if your speakers are listed. If they are, click on them and select "Enable."
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart your computer and access the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like Esc, F1, F2, Del, or F10 during the boot process).
- Look for an audio-related setting and ensure it's enabled.
Roll Back Audio Driver (if recently updated):
- If the issue started after a recent driver update, you can try rolling back the audio driver to the previous version.
- Open Device Manager, locate the audio device, right-click, and choose "Properties." Under the "Driver" tab, select "Roll Back Driver" if available.
System Restore:
- If the problem started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point where the speakers were working correctly.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for hardware-related issues.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with your speakers or the audio port on your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
