I’m using a Victus by HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop (Model: 15-fa1000, Product ID: 7E8Q2AV) and have encountered a consistent issue under specific conditions.
Whenever I manually set the fan to maximum speed using the OMEN Gaming Hub, and then leave the laptop idle for 5–10 minutes, the screen goes completely black, and the white LED on the power button starts slowly blinking (similar to a “breathe” effect). This gives the impression that the laptop has entered a sleep or hibernate-like state, even though no sleep or hibernate timers are active.
This doesn't happen when the fan is left on Auto or Balanced mode — only when it’s set to Max fan manually.
To bring the system back, I have to press the power button, which behaves like waking it from sleep. So, it seems like the system is not shutting down, but is being forced into an idle low-power state unintentionally.

@Kaunharsh, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We understand you are facing an issue with your HP Victus 15-fa1000 laptop unexpectedly entering a low-power state when the fan is set to Max via OMEN Gaming Hub.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated firmware or drivers can cause power management conflicts.
- Visit the HP Support page and enter your product details.
- Download and install the latest:
- BIOS update
- Chipset drivers
- OMEN Gaming Hub
- Thermal and power management drivers
Check OMEN Gaming Hub Settings
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
- Navigate to Performance Control > Fan Control.
- If using Max Fan, try switching to Custom and manually set a high fan speed without enabling full Max mode.
- Observe if the issue persists.
Adjust Windows Power Settings
Even if sleep/hibernate is disabled, hybrid sleep or display timeout might still be active.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Expand the following:
- Sleep > Sleep after → Set to Never
- Sleep > Hibernate after → Set to Never
- Display > Turn off display after → Set to Never
- Processor power management > Minimum processor state → Set to 5%
- Processor power management > System cooling policy → Set to Active
Disable Modern Standby (Optional Advanced Step)
Some systems use Modern Standby (S0ix) which can cause unexpected idle behavior.
- Run powercfg /a in Command Prompt to check if Modern Standby is enabled.
- If it is, and you're comfortable editing the registry, I can guide you through disabling it. Let me know if you'd like to proceed with this.
Check Event Viewer Logs
To confirm if the system is entering sleep or another state:
- Press Win + X > Event Viewer
- Navigate to Windows Logs > System
- Look for entries around the time of the incident (e.g., Kernel-Power, Sleep, etc.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
