Is this a desktop or laptop? Desktops usually have a NumLock key which, when pressed, forces the nu pad keys to have only numeric functions. Try pressing that to see if it changes. Did you use something WET to clean the pad? If so, you probably got liquid into the keyboard and that has ruined it.

I have pushed the NUM Lock multiple of times. This same thing happened a year or so ago. The fix was rather simple
just do not recall what it was. This is a problem with a 'drive'. or a virus or not being plugged in,.
