Hi @BACSNH,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I can guide you through updating the BIOS on your HP Pavilion 590, which may help resolve the TPM 2.0 issue and allow your Windows 11 updates to proceed.
Here's how you can update your BIOS.
Check Current BIOS Version:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
- In the System Information window, look for the "BIOS Version/Date" entry to note your current BIOS version.
Visit HP’s Support Website:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your HP Pavilion 590 model.
- Navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section and look for the BIOS updates.
- Compare the version available on the website with your current BIOS version.
Download the BIOS Update:
- If there’s a newer version, download the BIOS update for your system. Ensure the version is for your specific Pavilion 590 model.
Prepare for BIOS Update:
- Backup any important data, as BIOS updates can occasionally cause issues if something goes wrong.
- Make sure your computer is plugged into a reliable power source to avoid any interruptions.
Install the Update:
- Run the downloaded BIOS update file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. Your PC will likely restart and update the BIOS during this process.
- After the update is complete, your computer will reboot.
Enable TPM 2.0:
- Once your system restarts, enter the BIOS settings by pressing F10 during boot.
- Look for Security or Advanced settings in the BIOS.
- Find TPM or Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT) and enable it.
- Save and exit the BIOS.
After updating the BIOS and enabling TPM 2.0, Windows 11 security updates should be able to install.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi,
Thank you so much for reaching out to me. While my system shows Windows 11, when I get to the download driver, it only shows options for Windows 10 with no options to change operating system to Windows 11 or to find the updated driver needed.
What now, please?

Hi @BACSNH,
Thank you for your response,
It seems like you're trying to update the drivers for your HP Pavilion 590 but are running into an issue where the only available drivers are listed for Windows 10, not Windows 11. Here’s what you can do to move forward.
Try Compatibility Mode:
- If Windows 11 drivers aren’t available, you can try installing the Windows 10 driver in compatibility mode for Windows 11.
- To do this, right-click the driver installation file, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for, and choose Windows 10 from the dropdown list. Then, try running the installer.
Check HP’s Windows 11 Driver Availability:
- Sometimes, the website might not show an update for Windows 11 right away. Make sure to check the Windows Update section, as Microsoft might provide a driver through the OS that works with your device.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for available updates. It could include compatible drivers for your system.
BIOS Update:
- Since you're already working on the BIOS update to resolve the TPM 2.0 issue, updating the BIOS could allow the system to recognize the correct drivers and improve compatibility with Windows 11.
- If you haven't updated the BIOS yet, follow the steps you’ve outlined. After updating, you may want to revisit the drivers section on HP’s support page to see if Windows 11 drivers appear after the update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I appreciate your continued patience.
-Right clicking on compatibility only brought up Windows 8.
-The Windows update continues with the same error message that important security updates are missing and provides updates only for Windows 10.
-The BIOS update continues to be for a prior version of Windows, 843 F5.1
-there are no driver updates listed in the Windows update. Several weeks back when I contacted Microsoft, they said it was an HP issue.
