Hi @SDS14,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've encountered issues after a BIOS update, especially missing files or a system that isn't functioning correctly, here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:
- Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor issues that occur after a BIOS update.
- Check BIOS Settings: Enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility (usually by pressing a key like F2, Del, or Esc during startup) and ensure that all settings are configured correctly. Sometimes a BIOS update can reset settings to default values, which might not be appropriate for your system.
- Rollback BIOS Update: If you suspect that the BIOS update caused the problem, try rolling back to the previous version of the BIOS. Many BIOS utilities allow you to revert to an earlier version. Refer to your computer or motherboard's documentation for instructions on how to do this.
- Perform System Restore: If your operating system supports it, you can try using System Restore to revert your computer to a previous state before the BIOS update occurred. This may help recover missing files or resolve other issues caused by the update.
- Check for Backup Files: Some BIOS update utilities create backups of the previous BIOS version. Check the BIOS update utility documentation or the HP website to see if such backups are available and if they can be used to restore your system.
- Reinstall Operating System: If all else fails and your system is still not functioning properly after trying the above steps, you may need to consider reinstalling your operating system. Make sure to back up any important data before proceeding with a reinstall.
