I have several SW that stop supporting win 7 and i have to update to win 10.
I have downloaded windows 10 and Media creation tool onto USB thumbdrive.
I am able to boot up using the USB thumbdrive and i was able to select win10 64bit and the install/update started and then i got the Kmode error = [Link Removed]
Desktop is a 8200 Elte and has an SSD (250GB) and a HDD (500GB for data)
I did some search and several sites says its due to Secure boot and or fast boot - and need to turn that off but unable to find where to turn it off [Bios v2.33]
Thanks in advance

First of all, you do not BOOT from the Win10 media to install it. That will force a Clean install and you will lose all your HP drivers in the process.
Second, you want to create Win10 install media using the Media Creation Tool, insert that into your PC, find the folder containing the install files, right-click setup.exe and run as Administrator. That will do an in-place upgrade and retain the drivers it needs.
Third, I'm not aware of Win7 PCs having Secure Boot -- as that is a demand for the much newer Win11 PCs.
As to Fast Boot, that is a BIOS boot option and I see no reason why that should interfere with an OS upgrade.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP

Thank you .
I did create the win10 using the media creation tool
At this point i dont really care if i lose my drivers and have to reinstall from a fresh win10 OS & drive, because this PC is useless without able to operate my software (no longer supports win7).
Ok i will
1. boot normal with existing win7
2. Run the setup win10 (admin) - let it install / will update after this.
p.s. the secure boot and fast boot was the problem mentioned when kmode error pops up.

Hi, @ixiz
I have 2 HP 8200 Elite CMT's both currently running on Windows 11.
They have a UEFI BIOS but do not have a Secure Boot setting. No 8200 Elite's do.
Have you tried simply doing an in-place upgrade from W7 to W10 by clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below?
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
That's how I updated both of mine from W7 to W10 way back when.
The reason that would be the best way to do it is because W10 will be automatically activated after you are connected to the internet.
If you clean install W10 (you may have no choice if the in-place upgrade fails), then you will have to try and activate W10 by using the W7 product key on your PC's case.
You can also try this if you need to clean install W10...
Download the W10 64 bit ISO file instead of making the bootable USB drive with the Media creation tool..
Use Rufus to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive and install W10 in EFI mode.
Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
Select the GPT partition scheme from the drop-down menu.

You're very welcome.
I upgraded from W10 to W11.
You have to use some tricks to bypass the W11 hardware checks.
I suppose if the in-place upgrade fails, you can use the Rufus installer to do the same thing with the W11 ISO file but there is an option you have to select from the drop-down menu to create an installer that bypasses the hardware checks.
The question is...can you activate W11 with a W7 product key? That I do not know.
If you are successful with an in-place upgrade to W10 and want to try out W11, let me know and I will give you two easy ways to bypass the hardware checks and you will be able to retain your currently installed programs and files, as well as a way to go back to W10 if necessary, after the default 'go back to W10' period expires. I think that grace period is something like 10 days.
