Hey Guys! I just wanted to ask a quick question. I have done a fair amount of my own research, but I was still questioning this. I am aware that I need to temporarily disable protection on my computer to update the bios, but I just wanted to know what else I should do, or if I am all set to continue. I saw a lot of people going through and saving a thing of their windows, but some other people not doing that. Also people installing their bios manually instead of through the HP Support Assistant App. Again, I am aware I need to disable the protection temporarily, but I just didnt want to lose anything on my computer. I have had this computer since mid 2020 and I am not in any interest in losing it anytime soon. (The computer is a OMEN 30L Desktop, and I am still running the 2020 bios.)

There is no correct answer to your question. HPSA may work fine until it doesn't.
BIOS updates are optional unless they are needed to fix a PC problem or a security problem.
I would do a manual update. I have never had to disable A-V software when doing any type of HP BIOS updates.
I can't isolate your MB using GT13-0014. Four possible MBs are in use in this product number.
Check HP System Information included with your PC or check Windows System Information (Control Panel, Windows Tools, System Information) to get the MB name or MB SSID. Either item (MB name or SSID) is needed to find the correct manual BIOS update for the MB.

Thank you for the reply! I appreciate it. The Disabling of the anti virus software was a warning on a few places I went to because i am not sure of my Bitlocker key. Something about the computer not recognizing the "Bitlocker Key", and me losing the ability to get into anything. (But it was something about going along in a laptop bios update, not a desktop. I couldn't locate even turning off "Bitlocker" in my security preferences and settings whatsoever.) Here's a very short question : I am aware it is optional to do a BIOS update, but is it sometimes recommended even without having a computer problem? I have the HP Omen gaming desktop and there are some configurations that are completely un-needed, but I realized that the last time my BIOS was updated was a few months post me getting the computer. (Didn't want to miss out on anything like security updates, or general use improvements or anything like that)
By the way - My Motherboard is an HP 87C3
Again, I appreciate the response very much!!!

My pleasure.
You have the Moria3 MB. Each MB should have a separate and distinct MB SSID. Well, the Moria3 has two MB SSIDs:
Moria3, MB SSID 86D3
Moria3, MB SSID 87C3
I don't know what is going on?? Maybe a HP error?
Check the specs for both MB links. They look the same to me. Edited, but may not be identical.
The latest BIOS update for MB SSID 87C3 can be downloaded Here.
My suggestion is: turn off BitLocker. It can cause much grief if you have not locally backed up this key or your PC is not tied to a Microsoft account. I don't use BitLocker on W11 Pro.
Look in Control Panel, Drive Encryption. Edited, to disable Drive Encryption.
Edited, a BIOS update may not be recommended in your situation.

Hey there! (again)
Thanks again for the response.
It does seem to me that both of those things are the EXACT same word for word, but yeah, different formatting. Thanks for researching it a bit.
Here's the BIG question ; Should I use HP Support assistant whatsoever? I did some more searching around on here, and people were talking about how it was a mistake using HPSA in the end. Don't know weather that was updating bios, or updating things in general.
Thanks!

My pleasure.
HPSA generally works as expected.
I would do manual BIOS updates. Also avoid HP firmware updates offered by Windows Update.
