My HP Pavilion 500-210qe Memphis-S Motherboard specs shows Two 240pin DDR3 sockets and supports the following: PC3 10600. This seems to be a max RAM of 12.00 GB. I presently have one 8 GB and one 4 GB RAM cards. Is there any way to expand the RAM to 16.00 GB using two 8 GM DDR3 RAM cards? This PC has the latest BIOS update and the latest version of Windows 10 (64-bit).

Paul,
Thank you for the speedy response to my questions about upgrading the RAM on my HP 500-210qe Desktop PC. I checked by purchase records from 2014 and discovered that it came with 10 GB DDR3-1600 DIMM(8 GB + 2 GB) RAM. A few years ago, I replaced the 2 GB with a 4 GB and my System info shows 12 GB. When I replaced the 2 GB RAM with an 8 GB RAM, the System info only shows 8 GB. Apparently, my system will only recognize a max of 12 GB of RAM no partials if the second RAM stick makes the total over 12 GB. I probably do not need more than 12 GB as I do not run games or other RAM intensive programs. I tend to keep my PCs for a long time. Last year, I upgraded this HP 500-210qe Desktop and my 11-year old HP G72-250US laptop by installing Crucial MX500 2.5 SSD 500GB solid state drives on each with the Windows 10 OS booting off the SSD. Both boot extremely fast and perform better than new.
By the way, I was pleased to see in your bio that you are a USCG retiree with Command Ashore designation. I am a USCG Academy graduate Class of 1960, served 20 years active retiring in 1980. 6 ½ years were spent on 180’ buoy tenders with 2 years in command of CGC MALLOW based in Guam.
Thank you again for your PC advice and your service in the USCG.

You're very welcome, Ed.
That is very odd your PC's second memory slot won't recognize the 8 GB chip, when the crucial memory report and the HP specs indicate that it will.
Thank you for your service too.
I graduated OCS in 1977, and was what you would call a 'sand peep.'
No sea duty, except for training on the USCGC Reliance, and the ill fated Cuyahoga.
I served as the CO of USCG LORSTA Marcus Island, just a bit north of Guam, and as CO of the USCG Central Regional Recruiting Command, which was headquartered in St. Louis, MO during my 20 year career.
I can't think of anyone who would have been my boss from the Academy class of 1960, but I worked for Captain Gary (Garald) McManus '59?, and ADM Robert Kramek '61, in two different assignments on Governors Island. ADM Kramek was a captain when I worked for him.
Semper Paratus!
