Hi, I wanted to revive an old HP Pavilion Desktop pc.
It has a 2nd gen (I think) I5 processor, 8 gigs of DDR3 memory, and a Radeon 6450 video card. I was "just" going to replace the hard drive as the one in it has a password. Then I thought why not upgrade this video card. Found an RX 580 that fits in and had to get a new power supply as the card needs direct power. So I got that and plugged in everything with no issues.
Now I have a new hard drive on the way but in the meantime, I thought I could at least try and see if it starts. Well, I have no display. Took the new video card out and reinstalled the old one, but still no display. Double checked the connections and everything looks ok. And while I am here, when the new hard shows ... I want to install it and I have Windows 10 on a thumb drive waiting. I'm under the idea that I put the new hard drive in, insert the USB with the Operating System and it just kind of self-installs, right?
Thanks very much for all help,
Mike
