Hi. I have a HP Pavilion Desktop-570-p035t that I no longer use and want to give away. I want to wipe the disk clean.

I am confused at the Reset the PC option. I know that I should choose the Remove Everything option, but should I also choose the "clean the drives" option? This computer only had a C: drive, and I don't have any other drives connected to it.

Thanks!

Greetings @Margo1

Welcome to the HP Forum. Sawadee Khap (Hello)!

I see you are still unsure how to remove all data on the W10 system drive.

Previous versions of Windows could not wipe data. I didn't think W10 could wipe the system drive.

But, it seems you can sanitize the system drive by doing a Windows 10 Reset.

Check all steps at this Site showing how to wipe the system drive and reinstall W10 clean. This process will take many hours to complete.

Hi. I am finally getting around to resetting my PC to remove everything so that I can give it away.

I notice that for about one hour it has been stuck at 1%  during the Resetting this PC  phase. Is this normal? I really want to finish this disk cleaning today.

Thank you.

UPDATE: After almost 2 hours of resetting, a "user profile failed and the user profile can't be loaded" message came up.

My disk was obviously not cleaned because my name came up on the sign in screen.

Now what do I do to clean the disk using the Recovery? Would it be worth it to start again or is there another way to wipe the disk clean of all of my data?

(I always have problems when trying to clean my disk through resetting.)

Greetings @Margo1

Sorry for the late reply.

I am not getting a Forum notice when someone replies to an older thread.

I was reviewing old threads when I spotted your reply.

It looks like @Paul_Tikkanen provided a solution using DiskPart.

Hi. Yes, I used Diskpart through my Recovery Drive.

The Reset with remove everything including data never works for me on any computers. I don't know why.

Hi. Everything is fine now. I cleaned both Disk0, which had the operating system, and Disk1. After Diskpart with clean all finished, both times it said that the cleaning had succeeded. After that, I left it alone.
