TP01-2000i (1K4B6AV)
Ubuntu LTS

Hello,

I am wiling to use Ubuntu on my computer (TP01-2000i Core i5 Tigerlake).

But I have a crash at boot. Look like it's linked to pinctrl_tigerlake.

In fact I can boot with any other kernel version without installing "Linux kernel extra modules" but then sound, wifi, bluetooth... will not work. So it's garbage

Regards,

Are you referring to Ubuntu LTS?

Perhaps, you need to find a discussion forum for users of Ubuntu, and post your request for help to that forum ?

Yes I'am refering to any new version of UBUNTU without extra package running on this HP. With any other linux dist, it's worse as not even able to boot.

I have another HP laptop which runs  Ubuntu LTS very  well.

I tryed for weeks to find a solution on forums for users of Ubuntu with no success. That why I tried last chances on this forum.

In fact I tought thar HP was more linux friendly. That why I bought this PC eyes closed. My bad.

@Jord_Maogan

I am mystified that you would consider HP to be "Linux friendly"!!

HP does not provide support for Linux distros -- including boot and installation issues.

IF you replace the preloaded Windows OS with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

Additionally, with the recent model laptops from HP, UEFI boot and Secure Boot are often Locked IN -- and since you need to disable the second to boot a Linux installer, it is simply NOT going to work.

I manage to boot, on it, as stated before I am currenlty using ubuntu on this HP.

the problem is with the updates.

@Jord_Maogan

Yeah -- I understand -- but we here don't provide support for Linux issues.  I would think that would be clear by now.

You have to go to a Linux forum for such support.

@Jord_Maogan -- the problem is with the updates

Can you please be more specific?

What updates are you trying to install?

What error-message(s) do you get when you try to install, or try to use ?

Hello,

Problem is at reboot  after installing "linux-image-extras" which contains many drivers required for desktops.

The problem is a crash at startup even before log server startup. See picture :and RIP.
