Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, I need to restore my windows 7 Home Premium edition because of a severe virus.  The virus destroyed the recovery partition so I have to do a full restore. in order to downlad an ISO file fomr Microsoft I have to use the product key. The product key in the back of my laptop is blury, at least the last 5 characters. Is there anyway i can recover my product key?

My laptop serial number is :[edited]    MODEL : 2000-354NR

Thanks,

The product key embedded in your PC was HP OEM -- and that will not work to download the Win7 file from MS because they want a RETAIL key, which you do not have.

If you can still boot the PC and get into Windows, there are tools available on the internet to see what your product key is. But you have to be able to boot into Windows.

Try some of these: https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119

Otherwise, you could call HP and see if they'll send you a set of recovery discs for free, if not I think they're about $40 AUD.

Lastly, you'll need to purchase a copy of WIndows 10 and put that on instead on 7.

As far as I know, HP no longer supplies Win7 recovery media -- otherwise, I would have made that same suggestion.

The only tool I know for certain that shows OEM product keys is ShowKeyPlus from the community Win10 forums and that requires you booting into Windows to run it.
