HP Z420 WorkStation MotherBoard
Other

Well. I've been reading a lot of posts and questions here that really work. well. My name is Daniel. I want to build my PC with an HP Z420 board. and a Xeon E5-2690, (I will not use the original Z420 case) I still have many doubts. I heard people say something about "HP Z420_2" "HP Z420_1" "HP Z420_V2" And well, that's what confuses me. What does "HP Z420_v2" mean? Is it a new motherboard of the same HP Z420 model? Or is it just a Bios update? How do I know if my board is V0 V2 V1 or how?

Hello
sorry, just a question, because I do not know if we will find an answer to that, the difference, can be imperceptible also!
You say you want to build your computer, with another box.
but why this model of motherboard?
With manufacturer models, like here HP, you have fewer advantages, than if you buy a model which is made to be sold at retail.
You are more limited, in time, for upgrades, and the possibilities are generally less, with sometimes problems at the level of connectors that are difficult to adapt to another box

As well. will I have limitations? 😞 can you explain it to me best friend I want another box just so it can fit because I bought this board separately. It didn't come with its box. and well. what I want is basically to edit videos and play from time to time with Medium Qualities. No OverClock or Ultra 4K Qualities. My pc is supposed to be made up of. 1) HP Z420 Motherboard, 2) Intel Xeon E5 2690. 3) 16GB Ram 1600Mhz. 4) GTX 1080 + Kraken G12 + Liquid cooling, (All connected to an external speed controller and powered by the Sata connector of the power source. Since I cannot use it in its entirety on the HPZ420 Motherboard) 5) A Corsair E-ATX Tower Solo to be able to have the plate inside. I don't think I'll be able to use the tower connections on the board. I'm not sure. 6) One Supermicro 4U Active Heatsink for the CPU. 7) 850W 80+ Gold Power Supply 😎 An SSD for the operating system (I don't know whether to use Win10 or Win7. I would like an opinion of which system would be better or more optimal for this pc) 9) HDD 2TB For storage. Games, My editing effects and personal things. 10) Wifi card. 11) and some Fan Hubs. and Speed controllers for the Fans. Cpu. Gpu, ETC Tower, That's what I'm planning to put together. In order to edit videos, play and record at normal qualities. I'm not addicted to overclocking or ultra quality at the moment. so ... that's what I would like to do with this board .. but, I don't know a lot about workstations and their "limitations" and well. I accept any advice and opinion friend. I would also like you to tell me what you think I want to put together. would it work for me? It would be good? I will not have problems? Which Windows should I install? huf. my head is burning -_-

@ElBurgerXV -- What does "HP Z420_v2" mean?

It probably means that there are some "engineering changes" in this "version 2" of the motherboard -- maybe more sockets for RAM or SATA devices, and/or an updated BIOS, to support the changed hardware, and maybe support for newer/faster processors.

I would avoid Windows 7 -- if you use new components, there might not be any device-drivers for those components for usage under Windows 7.

Sorry, a little hard to follow, because there is no new line, everything is stuck in a row
If you have already bought the motherboard, then my answer is of little use after all
Windows 10 64 bits is one of the best systems to date
it is mentioned windows 8 on your motherboard, but not great in my opinion
and most of the drivers are available for w10

(if it corresponds well to the model, check the possibilities of hardware updates)
