I have a HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 850-070na (ENERGY STAR), no mods, looking to update the BIOS, but I cant find anyway to do it, or anywhere with an updated version. Online it says "There is no software or drivers available for your product."
The machine is now 10 years old and I was looking to change to Win 11, but I was told to firstly update the Bios.
Can anyone tell me how?
Ive tried going through the Bios menu but no option there to upgrade either!
Thanks

HP has retired support for the model series since it is 10 or more years old.
The only BIOS update I could find is 80.02, so if your PC has an older version than that, let me know and I will post the info and exe file links to it.
Also, your PC does not meet Microsoft's W11 hardware requirements for W11, but you can use a workaround to upgrade from W10 > W11 on your PC:

Greetings @RGMyles10
Welcome to the HP Forum.
There are no drivers available from HP.
This Site has a 2015 BIOS download for your PC. The BIOS is from 2015 so this BIOS would probably not fix your W11 upgrade problem.
It is also recommended to not download drivers and such from third party sites.
I'm not a big fan of W11. I have some W11 capable PCs running W10. I plan on doing the one year W10 support extension for my W10 PCs.
@Paul_Tikkanen can provide W11 update procedures for your PC.

Greetings @Paul_Tikkanen
That sounds good.
I'm a slow typist; I had clerical staff back in the working days.
I did not see your response when first replying to this thread.

The OP's HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 850-070na is fitted with the Kaili2 motherboard (SSID: Hewlett-Packard 2B36).
Now, a related PC, the HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 810-400nc, is also fitted with the Kaili2 motherboard.
My thinking is that the BIOS/drivers -which are available for this PC, should also be compatible with the OP's PC: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/hp-envy-phoenix-810-400-desktop-pc-series/7477706.
Would this approach work?

I'm not sure because if you look at the revision history link on the model you posted, the BIOS updates do not align with 80.02.
That page has an 80.07 with an older release date (Dec 17, 2014) than the 17 Aug 2015 release date of 80.02.

Might be risky...

A BIOS update for an identical MB should be a good fit.
HP DMI info might be altered by using a BIOS update from a different HP product number. I don't know for sure??
The PC is out of warranty so I guess this would not be a problem.

OK, after looking into this further, this update was once listed on the 850-070na support page (80.13):
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71809.html
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71809.exe
The release notes indicate that is good for the (ROM Family SSID 2B36) and is good for the following model series:
HARDWARE PRODUCT MODEL(S):
HP ENVY 700-0xx PC
HP ENVY Phoenix 810-0xx PC
HP ENVY Phoenix 850-0xx Desktop PC
HP ENVY 750-0xx Desktop PC
So the BIOS updates on the HP ENVY Phoenix 810-400 Desktop PC series support page up to 80.13 should work fine because they are for the same motherboard ROM Family SSID 2B36.
Also if you look at the revision history, 80.13 was the previous BIOS release before the current one so that one is fine.
But: The latest A0.13 BIOS update does not list the HP ENVY Phoenix 850-0xx model series as supported by the latest update.
It does have the same motherboard SSID though.
So, is it an oversight on HP's part, or is that BIOS only for the models listed?
HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 2B36)
HARDWARE PRODUCT MODEL(S):
HP ENVY 700-0xx PC
HP ENVY Phoenix 810-0xx PC
HP ENVY 750-0xx Desktop PC
OPERATING SYSTEM(S):
Microsoft Windows 10 32
Microsoft Windows 10 64
Microsoft Windows 8.1 32 Bit
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64 Bit
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp77501-78000/sp77786.html
I would err on the side of caution and only update the BIOS to 80.13.
You shouldn't need to update the BIOS to install W11 anyway.
