Hi there; I currently have an Intel Celeron N 3050 CPU, with a 1170BGA socket; I need a new CPU for Windows 11, can anyone recommend one that is compatible for my desktop pc.  The motherboard is; ASUS Prime B660-Plus D4.  I appreciate all replies to get the ball rolling, Cheers.

Hi:

Unfortunately, the Celeron N3050 processor cannot be upgraded.

BGA processors are soldered to the motherboard.

Celeron N3050 processors are primarily used in notebook PCs and would not be supported in an ASUS Prime B660-Plus D4 which is way newer technology according to the motherboard specs.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, watch this video:

How to install Windows 11 24H2 on Unsupported PC (Early Access) 2024 (youtube.com)

Download the W23H2 ISO file and use that (3rd option).

Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

24H2 isn't out yet and if you don't have a W11 PC, you can't get the new version yet.

Thankyou Paul for the information, I did not know about BGA processors, so you have taught me something already.  I will now check out the video links that you suggested. Thanks greatly for your help.

You're very welcome.

Gidday Paul, I just had another idea, what if I replaced the whole motherboard for one that has a suitable processor within it. Do you think this idea would work.

Hi:

There wouldn't be any motherboards that would support Intel 8th generation core processors for your PC.

That's what Microsoft's minimum processor requirement is.

Thankyou again Paul. Sometimes I just hate Microsoft, Cheers.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Cheers,

Paul
