HP Compaq Pro 6300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I'm opening a new thread to check if there's any OS recovery disk (as for Z workstation series) for this old HP Compaq Pro 6300. If not, can I simply install my own Win 10 on it and use the available drivers from HP website (which is only up to Win 8.1)? Thanks for your time and effort in advance.

Bests,
Pin

Hi:

HP no longer sells recovery media for your PC.

It should run W10 just fine as I am running W10 Pro, 64 bit on the older 6200 Pro.

The only driver you should need that W10 won't install is this one...

This package contains the Intel Active Management Technology (AMT), including the Active Client Manager Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI) device driver, and the Intel Local Management Service (LMS) and Serial-over-LAN (SOL) support for the supported desktop models and operating systems.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67118.exe

Windows installs a generic audio driver, so you can use the W10 driver directly from Realtek.

Accept the agreement.  Download and install the Windows 64 bit driver, and restart the PC.
