Hi @Thundra,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Windows Security system is not turning on and you’ve tried various troubleshooting methods without success, here’s a step-by-step guide to address the issue. These steps cover a range of solutions, from simple checks to more advanced troubleshooting methods:
1. Check for Conflicting Antivirus Software
- Third-Party Antivirus:
- Ensure that no third-party antivirus software is installed or interfering. Sometimes, third-party antivirus programs disable Windows Security.
- If a third-party antivirus is installed, temporarily disable or uninstall it to see if Windows Security turns on.
2. Restart Windows Security Services
- Restart Services:
- Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- In the Services window, find Windows Defender Antivirus Service and Windows Defender Firewall.
- Right-click each service and select Restart. If the service is not running, right-click and choose Start.
3. Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates. Sometimes, security updates can fix issues with Windows Security.
4. Run the Windows Security Troubleshooter
- Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Click on Additional troubleshooters and select Windows Store Apps or Windows Security if available.
- Follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter and apply any fixes.
5. Check Group Policy Settings
Group Policy Editor:
- Press Windows Key + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Defender Antivirus.
- Ensure that Turn off Microsoft Defender Antivirus is set to Not Configured or Disabled.
Check for Other Policies:
- Also, check under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Network Connections > Windows Defender Firewall for any settings that might disable it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
