HP Pavilion AIO 27-a241nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I have this desktop for two years now and it doesn't seem to update past windows 10 version 1607.

I tried to update several times, but no succes so far.

What i found on the internet is that maybe i need to update my bios. These are the specs that i could find of my computer:

BIOS: F.05-11/11/2016. On the HP support i could find several bios-updates, but i'm not sure what update I should choose or if that's really the solution for the problem. Because I also read somewhere that some desktops simply cannot update without a hardware upgrade.
Since i'm not really an expert on these matters, I hope that someone here knows what to do 🙂

@YvetteLA

I looked at the HP specs for your model PC and did not see anything that would prevent it from running the latest version of Win10.

So, HOW are you attempting to do the Updates?

And, what error messages are you getting?

We can proceed when you provide the information.
Thanks

Hi WaWood, thank  you so much for your reply and i'm happy to hear that it's not a hardware problem!
What I tried is the Windows Update in the settings. At first it said that it was up to date (to version 1607) with no option to update it there.

Then I downloaded the latest version (I believe it was 1903) and tried to install it. It went to around 30% then it shut down couple of times and then it said that it would go back to the last version (which is 1607)
When I go to Windows Update in the settings now, i can see that i can update to version 1803 (and weirdly enough not 1903) which previously I couldn't do.  It also says the update failed, with error 0xc1900130
Of course I tried a couple of times to update it to 1803 then, but the same thing happens again and again. Around 30% the computer just stops, goes black, on and off and then it goes back to the previous version..
Hope this helps?

Hi WAWood, thank you for the link!

I tried the first steps, but where it said that i had to remove the contents of the folder, my computer then said that the folders were in use and I was unable to delete them. And my computer didn't give me acces to delete other files in command prompt.

So apparantly I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what exactly.. But at least now I know that it's a Windows problem and not necessarily a HP problem. I think i'm also going to try my luck with Microsoft Support, maybe they can talk me through the steps.

Thanks for the quick support! Hopefully this whole thing will be resolved soon.
