HP ENVY All-in-One - 27-b190n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Following a recent automatic Windows 10 update, the Windows Hello feature has stopped working.  Was working perfectly and I used it all the time.

The Sign-in options screen shows:  'Windows Hello is not available on this device.'   Google this term for suggested fixes.

This is a relatively common problem and there are 'fixes' available online.  I have reinstalled the camera driver etc, no change

Is there a simple HP fix or patch that can restore this camera function known as Windows Hello??

Many thanks

@Boyne Could you include a few references to the links you've used to diagnose or troubleshoot this issue so far, so we don't end up suggesting the same steps all over again?

While you respond to that, I suggest you follow the steps in this article to resolve the issue: Click here for steps
(I'm afraid there's no patch as such at the moment)

If the webcam is working and yet the Windows hello sing-in via face recognition isn't working, please try the below steps:

Step 1: Uninstall and reinstall the IR camera driver

Step 2: Remove the Face Recognition and PIN sign-in settings

Step 3: Clear the Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

Step 4: Add a PIN and set up Face Recognition

Step 5: Perform a system reset

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Thanks for the response.

1:  I removed and re-installed the IR driver; no change.

2:  I cannot remove Windows Hello because there is no delete option, see image.

3:  I cannot clear the TPM because this requires Windows 10 Pro and I have Windows 10 Home..

I downloaded the BIOS update and restarted the PC.  Sorry to report no change.

Also no change on Windows sign-in page, still no option to delecte Windows Hello.

I appreciate your ongoing support.

@Boyne I have a few more steps that should help:

Windows latest Update might have modified some of the crucial settings of Group Policy. Therefore, we would recommend to launch the Group Policy Editor and check the settings related to Windows Hello functionality.

To perform the same, follow the below steps.

  1. Press Windows key, type gpedit, and press Enter.
  2. Click on Computer Configuration and open Administrative Templates.

3. Select Windows Components and open Biometrics.

4. Click on Facial Features and right-click on Configure enhanced anti-spoofing option.

5. Select Edit and disable the Configure enhanced anti-spoofing feature.

6. Once it is done, reboot your computer and check if the issue gets fixed.

If the issue remains, you can try updating the required drivers from the Device Manager.

A push-button reset the best route to go: Click here. However, before that please try to create a new user account as an administrator from this link: Click here for instructions and check if Windows Hello works on this account.

Good luck.
