Microsoft Windows 11

I have a brand new desktop that arrived today with Windows 11. I went through the setup and they system then rebooted as normal. Upon bootup it goes to a login screen as "other user" and ask for email address and password.  It does not accept the username and password I used during the setup and I'm basically stuck on this screen. Has anyone seen this issue? Support want to me to pay them $99, its brand new today.

Hi,

I have never seen an "other user" login screen on a new PC. Do you see an option to select your user name?

Microsoft tries to force users to use a Microsoft account tied to an email address, but this usually happens during setup and not at first login after setup.

I have no idea why HP would want money to solve a problem with a new PC.

Take the PC back to the seller if purchased locally. Did you buy the PC directly from HP?

You could start the PC. Tap "ESC". Select "F11" System Recovery. This would set the PC back to factory condition.

Then try setting up for the first time again. This time try disconnecting the PC from the internet. W11 wants a Microsoft account. You could disconnect from the internet in W10 to set up a local account.

Check this HP Support Video (Link) to setup W11.

You can subsequently change to a local account in Settings, Accounts, Your info, Account settings.

Regards

@NTG3419 --  it's brand new today.

It would be "sneaky" to take it back to the store that sold it to you, and exchange it for an identical one.

Or, is there some way to repeat the complete installation, from "square one" ?
