it was a normal day at my Internship and i was trying to install Windows 2000 advanced server on an hp NetServer lp1000r and accuired the needed drivers for the scsi adapter from here
when i got the drivers on a floppy disk i started the windows 2000 advanced server setup cd en pressed f6 to load the additional driver but when i selected the driver i got this error:
press any key to continue
I have no idea why this error pops up. My guess is that it could be windows 2000 install disk or totally something else and yes i am aware that this server is no longer supported by hp support, but the worst part is that the person who gave the server to me didn't gave the factory floppy with it.
This really needs to be resolved if possible, because this server is going to be reused.
I was however trying to mail this to HP support but the webpage got shutdown or something like that where i could have gotten the mail.
the broken link is here
Sorry if my english is a little weird. I'm actually Dutch. (Nederlands)

I understand what you say, however i have decided to put windows 2000 aside (I tried to install this OS for 4 weeks on the server!) and tried to install something else.
I tried to install ubuntu server with succes but when ubuntu server was about to start the screen input became out of range.
[Edit] The resolution was the problem. after changing it with an external text editor was everything working!
these are the steps i have taken to intall ubuntu server.
i installed a bootloader on the floppy i had used to load the scsi drivers from and booted then via usb.
then the installation process of ubuntu server.
after the installation was completed i used the systemrescuecd mounted the drive, changed directory to /boot/grub and opened grub.cfg in nano
changed the line set "gfxmode=auto" to
gfxmode=800x600
set gfxpayload=keep
save the file and poweroff the server.
Still thanks a lot for the support and peace out.

From: http://www.hp.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/P2465A.htm
did you try to run the "HP Diagtools" on your server? Any problems reported?
Support for Windows 2000 Server ended many years ago -- in 2008.
Support for Windows 2003 Server has also ended: 4/8/2014.
Support for Windows 2007 Exchange Server ends in April 2017.
So, it's time to consider new hardware & new software.
I'm surprised that your existing hardware is still functioning. Is it over 15 years old?

No i didn't use the diagtools, but it is a good idea. but how do i run it?
make a bootdisk and put the diagtools exe in it i suppose???
I really have no idea how old this server is.

> I really have no idea how old this server is.
Given that it has a "Pentium III" CPU at 1000 Mhz, it probably is "very" old.
Pentium 3 ('III') -> Pentium 4 -> Pentium D -> Intel Core -> Intel Core 2 -> Intel Core 2 Duo -> Intel i3/i5/i7.
If your boss "amortizes" the purchase-price of a new server (and software) over 4 or 5 years, it's not that expensive to upgrade.
