I am unable to login my PC. At start up I keep getting the C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogonUI.exe black pop up window and it keeps popping up multiple times. How do I make it stop so I can log in?

Hi @Chrissy271,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogonUI.exe black pop-up window issue at startup is typically related to a corrupted or malfunctioning system file. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Power on your PC and immediately press and hold the Power button to force a shutdown. Repeat this process 2-3 times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
  • Click on Advanced options.
  • Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  • Click on Restart.
  • After your PC restarts, press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.

2. Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM

Once in Safe Mode, open Command Prompt as an administrator:

Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).

In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands and press Enter after each:

Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions. Next, run the DISM tool:

Wait for the DISM scan to complete, then restart your PC and see if the issue is resolved.

3. Check for Malware

Run a full system scan using your preferred antivirus software or Windows Defender to ensure that malware is not causing the issue.

4. Perform a Clean Boot

A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts:

  • Press Windows key + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
  • Check Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all.
  • Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager.
  • In the Task Manager window, disable all startup items.
  • Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.
  • Restart your PC and see if the issue persists.

Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Chrissy271,

Please find the remaining steps below.

5. System Restore

If the problem started recently, a system restore might help:

  • Boot into WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) as described in the Safe Mode section.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  • Select a restore point before the issue started and follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Repair Install

If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a repair install of Windows 10. This process reinstalls Windows without affecting your personal files:

  • Download the Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft website.
  • Create a bootable USB drive using the Media Creation Tool.
  • Boot from the USB drive and select the option to repair your installation.

7. Reset Your PC

As a last resort, you can reset your PC:

  • Boot into WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) as described in the Safe Mode section.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything and follow the on-screen instructions.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogonUI.exe issue and log into your HP Desktop - M01-F1033wb.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware-related problem. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
