On 8-31-2022 "HP Software Component 1.46.3053.0" was downloaded to my computer during a regular Windows Update. A couple of days later my computer would not boot up and entered chkdsk. Chkdsk did a scan and repair and apparently found that this HP component update was causing the computer not to boot up and deleted it. The bootup issue was fixed but now I have this "Attention needed" in Windows Update. It wants me to reinstall this HP component update but when I click on Download nothing happens. How do I get rid of this "Attention needed" triangle?

Hi:
Run the Hide Windows Update utility that I zipped up and attached below and it will prevent the update from showing up and installing.
Unzip and run the utility.
A window will open.
It will search for pending updates and then it wil show them.
Check the box to hide the HP Software Component 1.46.3053.0 update.
The utility will run again and report the problem is 'fixed.'
Close out of the utility and restart the PC.
If the update is still there or indicates that windows update needs attention, click on that and it should disappear.

I ran the utility and hid the HP update but it's still showing up with the "Needs attention" alert triangle after restarting. It won't disappear no matter where I click. As long as I can still get and download vital updates I'm not too concerned about it.
Thanks.

You're very welcome.
I'm surprised the update didn't disappear after you restarted the PC and click on that update.
Perhaps after a few restarts during the next week, it will sort itself out.
You can also run the Windows Update troubleshooting utility and see if that corrects the problem.
