Google-search for "Windows Update Troubleshooter".

Microsoft offers versions for Windows 7, 8, and 10 -- do not download from non-Microsoft sites.

Download and run it, and it may "repair" Windows Update, to restore it to proper functionality.

mdklassen: I downloaded this, but I don't recall if I ran it or not because of all of my fruitless searches. I have now developed faith in you and HP forum, so please e-mail me this download again. I will now take you seriously and credible. Thank you.

The first search-result is a Microsoft site:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4027322/windows-windows-update-troubleshooter

Choose either the "Windows 7" or the "Windows 10" version, as appropriate for your system.

Thank you for your help on this one, but at all stages I get; 'An error occurred while troubleshooting'.

It appears that I may have a problem with my msiinstaller. Date: 4/7/2017 28,6 six05 KB

HP Support Assistant – InstallShield Wizard.
Setup Status

Feature Transfer Error.
Error: 1639 invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows installer SDK for detailed commandline help.

BTW: I have had a computer since 1982 – RadioShack Color Computer loaded with 16KB ram and no hd. I had to use a RadioShack tape recorder to save my basic ASCII programming. I'm still, NOT a computer guru.

I tried a Google-search for:  0x800070002

Lots of results, i.e., people with the same symptom.

One result: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-performance/how-do-i-correct-an-erro...

seems promising.

Thank you Prof. I follow your link and it did the trick and in some. I updated five Windows/Microsoft . Net framework that I badly needed. It apparently fixed some other bugs for me. Thank you.
