HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 IDS Base Model

My HP Pavilion laptop has given me little no problems over the 2-3 years I've owned it. However there was an unfortunate instance where the Ethernet Cable connected into the Ethernet port of my laptop was yanked out. Ever since, it stopped working. I didn't worry too much about it at the time considering my wi-fi alone is fine. But I've left this problem ignored for almost over a year I believe, and with some recent works ethernet almost seems necessary to get my laptops full potential. Keep in mind, my ethernet works on my smart TV and my gaming console connected to the same exact port I'm trying to connect my laptop to. Even the same wire. I've tried all the solutions i found online. From going into my command prompt to trying every setting i possibly could that these videos suggested. Nothing worked so I opened the laptop myself and the pins to the Ethernet port seemed to be just fine. However after doing some in depth research and learning about BIOS and diagnostic tools I find myself looking at a message reading "UEFI Networking does not appear to be supported or enabled in the system. Please check the bios setting to make sure UEFI network option ROMs are enabled and that UEFI network boot is enabled" I have not one clue how to exactly do this. When going into the BIOS setting I'm met with an unfamiliar HP version with zero option to enable any UEFI networking. Looking for more solutions, I am then told my HP diagnostics software is out of date? I'm not sure if that has any relevance but so on, I run a components test on the network and choose wired of course. I'd like to mention before i tried any solutions, i did run a test already on the network component on wireless. It said not available, but after something i did, all of a sudden there were new results. It then identified that there was "a critical failure in your system that requires repair" I then scanned the QR code to be met with the following, "The test found a communication problem between the network port and the system board. The card may need to be replaced or the system board may need to be repaired." I once again know nothing of what any of that means. Any tips on what I should do to hopefully once and for all get Ethernet working on my laptop again?

It seems like the issue with your laptop's Ethernet port might be a hardware problem, specifically a communication issue between the network port and the system board. It's great that you've checked the physical pins in the Ethernet port, but it appears that there might be a deeper hardware malfunction or connection problem between the port and the motherboard.

Given the diagnostic message indicating a potential issue with the network port's communication to the system board, here are some steps you could consider:

  1. Check Warranty: If your laptop is still under warranty, contacting HP support would be the best course of action. They might offer a repair or replacement.

  2. Professional Repair: If the warranty has expired or if you're comfortable doing so, you might consider taking your laptop to a professional technician or an HP service center. They can conduct a more thorough inspection and diagnose the issue accurately.

  3. Hardware Replacement: As suggested in the diagnostic message, the network card or the system board might need replacement. A technician can help identify the specific faulty component.

  4. BIOS Update: While less likely to resolve a hardware issue, ensuring your laptop's BIOS is up-to-date is still a good idea. Sometimes BIOS updates come with fixes for hardware-related problems. You can check HP's official website for BIOS updates specific to your laptop model.

  5. Driver Updates: Even though it's more of a hardware issue, ensuring you have the latest network drivers installed is worth a shot. Sometimes driver updates can resolve communication issues between hardware components.

  6. Second Opinion: If you're unsure about the diagnosis or the repair recommendations provided by a technician, seeking a second opinion from another reputable repair service might be beneficial.

Given the complexity of the issue, involving a professional technician or HP support would likely be the best way to resolve this and get your Ethernet port back up and running.
