Purchased a HP PC for home and office use to tie in with a previously owned HP PC..When I set it up neither the wireless keyboard or mouse work.  I tried everything I found on the web to no avail.  Help

Greetings @Gatzbo

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I generally don't use wireless USB devices.

I've sometimes had problems entering the BIOS at startup when using a wireless keyboard.

I guessing you're connecting the unified USB dongle that shipped with both devices to an open USB 2.0 port located on the PC. Have you tried the dongle in different USB ports? Can you try the dongle on a different PC?

Look for an on/off button on: either or both devices.

Are batteries preinstalled? Check for a thin non-conductive piece of material in the battery compartment in any device which requires batteries. This material isolates the batteries from the device battery terminals.

You would have to remove the non-conductive material before you can use the mouse and the keyboard.

Maybe the batteries are cooked. Try different batteries in any device (keyboard or mouse) which requires batteries.

You might have a faulty wireless kit if you have done all of the above.

You might have a new PC USB port problem if the dongle works on some USB ports, but not all ports, or the dongle works when installed in a different PC.

Try a different USB device in all USB ports to verify every USB port works.

Regards
