Z820
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

Got an Z820 that came with win7 but have been successfully upgraded (not clean install) with Win10 and have run fine for 2 years. Now during early 2023 something happen and I think some windows update made the disk run 100% even though Task Manager says no program or service use more than 0,1%. Worst thing is that Win 10 refuses to accept the newest HP drivers for the RAID-card when I try to make a clean re-install. I can't get the 100% disk usage to drop, and have tried all tips on internet. Dual mirrored 1TB SSD:s on a LSI 2308-card, the computer works but are incredible slow and don't answer for 2-5 minutes when it suddenly can react a few seconds and back to not respond again.

Tips and tricks are happily welcome

Hi Poppen,

Did you manage to fix this issue? If not, I would try the following . . .

1. Try starting Windows in Safe Mode to see if the issue is still there.

2. Go to Services, ( you can access via the Computer Management console), and STOP the Windows Update service. Check to see if the issue is still there.

3. Temporarily un-install any Anti-Virus software to see if this resolves the issue.

In my own experience, it is usually either Windows Update or your Anti-Virus software that causes 100% disc usage.
