shows bad image error for multiple programs that worked fine until yesterday, reads (in this case) battle.net.exe c/windows/system32/cryptnet.dll not designed to run on windows or has an error 0xc0000020
i have tried multiple things like reinstalling programs, sfc scan, chkdsk, running cmd as admin and doing a health restore, using restore points, virus scans and nothing has worked
-uninstalling programs is difficult as the error message pops up and makes the uninstaller this the program is running (i have managed to uninstall programs anyway after some effort but the error still persists)
-after one diagnostic a window showed that my service registration was missing or corrupt among other things (ill list the others if i can find them)
again its not just battle net but multiple, seemingly random, programs that worked fine until yesterday

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
This type of behavior suggests you may have a hardware problem (memory or storage device). Malware could cause this but you have stated you checked the system and all is good.
Try running HP Diagnostics (Link) at system startup.
Worst case scenario if HP Diagnostics is good would be to back up data. Do a clean Windows installation on the current HDD or SSD to see if the issues are resolved. Or install Windows clean on a different HDD or SSD.

honestly still not sure what the issue was, i ran an extensive diagnostic on start up which showed nothing was wrong and when it started up again i ran command prompt again under admin and did either a chkdsk or sfc /scannow and it said the errors were corrected this time. restarted and so far the errors havnt returned (in the last 3hrs) so i hope it stays that way thanks for quick reply
