blue envelope Mail App Windows 11

 Hello, I recently had (have) an issue with fan noise.  HP support team did a remote diagnostic and said the sound was normal.  When He emailed me to see how things were, I told him that I can access my aol email via Microsoft Edge but when I access the start button/blue envelope mail app (my email address is visible in the app)....it says "we couldn't access this account. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device."  I typed in my password several times.  I even accessed the area to "fix" and the response was "your account is out of date".  Huh?  The HP support team told me he can't help me with this issue and that I need the advanced technical support team that might cost me.  I said this is a new computer that is under warranty.  He said that there's probably an advanced setup on the computer that needs to be configured.  So, I stayed on the line for the HP support team technician to connect me to the HP Smart Friends but the wait was too long and I hung up.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.  j.

If you enabled two step password for AOL mail then you need to obtain an "app" password as the account password is not sufficient.  I use g..l and chrome has a feature that provides the app password.  Not sure about AOL.  I did not even know they were in business anymore.    I used to hang their CDs on a Christmas tree for decorations.
