Hi @Varun6677,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is having trouble locating the correct boot device, which might have been caused by an issue during or after the reset process. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the "No bootable device found" error and ensure that your laptop boots correctly without needing to manually select the EFI file each time:
1. Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI
- Restart your laptop and press the BIOS/UEFI access key during startup. This is usually F2, F10, F12, Esc, or Del (the exact key may vary depending on your laptop model).
- In the BIOS/UEFI menu, look for a tab or section related to "Boot" or "Boot Order."
- Ensure that the hard drive or SSD with your operating system is set as the first boot device.
- Save changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually F10 to save and exit).
2. Repair Boot Configuration
- Restart your laptop and interrupt the boot process (usually by pressing the power button to turn off and on again) to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). Alternatively, you can use a Windows installation USB or DVD to boot into the recovery options.
- In WinRE, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
Enter the following commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each::
- Type exit and press Enter. Restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
3. Check Hard Drive/SSD Connection
- Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
- If you’re comfortable opening your laptop, check if the hard drive or SSD is properly connected. Loose connections can sometimes cause boot issues.
- Reassemble the laptop and try to boot again.
4. Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware
- Go to the Hp website (e.g., HP Support) and look for the latest BIOS/UEFI firmware for your laptop model.
- Download the update and follow the HP instructions to apply it. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve boot issues.
5. Check for Disk Errors
If you can access the Command Prompt from WinRE, run the following command to check for disk errors:
Replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if your OS is installed on a different drive.
Follow Prompts:
- Follow any prompts to repair disk errors and then restart your laptop.
6. Reinstall Windows
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you might need to perform a clean reinstall of Windows. Ensure you have backed up any important data before proceeding with a reinstallation.
- Use another computer to create a Windows installation USB or DVD.
- Insert the installation media into your laptop and boot from it.
- Select "Install now" and follow the prompts to reinstall Windows.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
