I oredered recovery disks from HP and they came on USB XL689AV#ABA.  I have all the same problems as described.  HP sent me another recovery disk and it to has the same problem.  I have tried to boot both recovery drives on 6 different HP 6200 SFF and they all do the same thing, regardless of bios settings or hard drives. 😞       I even installed oem version of windows just to update bios, and still the recovery disk hangs just as decribed.

Hi; @TimmieT :

Unfortunately, I can't help you get aroudn the recovery media not working, but a while back, I read a forum post where someone found a link to a site the claims to have genuine Microsoft ISO files to download.

You can read their statement regarding how they access the files...

If your PC has the W7 product key on the case, and you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key, you can make your own plain W7 installation media on DVD and try that...

Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe

You can use either the:

Win 7 Home/Pro SP1 (as applicable) or the (Retail version, but the OEM key on your PC's case should work with it)

Win 7 Home/Pro SP1 (as applicable) COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder)

N is for European Union countries.

K is for South Korean markets.

Then you can use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or a DVD.
