Hi @LJ4581
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering an issue with your camera not displaying video during a Zoom call on your HP laptop, even though the camera light comes on. Let's walk through the troubleshooting steps to fix this issue.
1. Check Camera Permissions
The first thing to ensure is that Zoom has permission to use your webcam.
For Windows 10/11:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Ensure that Allow apps to access your camera is turned on.
- Scroll down and check that Zoom has permission to access the camera. If not, toggle the setting to allow it.
For Zoom:
- Open the Zoom app on your PC.
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner, then select Settings.
- In the settings menu, select Video and make sure your camera is selected under the Camera dropdown.
- Test the camera by clicking the Test video option.
2. Check if Camera is Working on Other Apps
Check if your webcam works with other applications to verify that the issue is specific to Zoom.
- Open the Camera app on Windows:
- Type Camera in the search bar and open the Camera app.
- If the camera shows up correctly, then the issue is likely with Zoom settings.
- If the camera is still black, it could indicate a driver or hardware issue.
3. Ensure No Other Application is Using the Camera
If another application (e.g., Skype, Microsoft Teams, or even a web browser) is using the camera, it may cause Zoom to fail to detect it. Close all other programs that might be using the webcam.
4. Check the Camera in Zoom Settings
Sometimes Zoom may not automatically select the correct camera. You can manually select your camera in the Zoom settings:
- Open Zoom and join the call.
- Click the upward arrow next to the video camera icon in the lower-left corner of the Zoom window.
- Select Video Settings from the dropdown.
- Under Camera, make sure the correct camera (usually named something like Integrated Camera or HP Webcam) is selected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
