@Beth1237, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Desktop is unable to connect to Wi-Fi, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Wi-Fi Status

  • Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on in Windows.
  • Click the Network icon in the taskbar and ensure Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • If you don’t see Wi-Fi, your desktop may not have a wireless adapter or it may be disabled.

Run HP Network Check

Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tool:

Check Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters.
  • Look for a wireless adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel Wireless).
    • If it’s missing or has a yellow exclamation mark, reinstall the driver.

Update or Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver

Visit HP support site: Official HP® Support

Enter your desktop model number.

Download and install the latest Wireless LAN driver.

Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  • Scroll down and click Network reset.
  • Restart your PC after the reset.

Check BIOS Settings

Sometimes Wi-Fi can be disabled in BIOS:

  • Restart your PC and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Look for Wireless LAN settings and ensure it’s enabled.

Try External USB Wi-Fi Adapter

If your desktop doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi or the internal adapter is faulty, consider using a USB Wi-Fi dongle.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
