@Beth1237, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Desktop is unable to connect to Wi-Fi, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Wi-Fi Status
- Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on in Windows.
- Click the Network icon in the taskbar and ensure Wi-Fi is enabled.
- If you don’t see Wi-Fi, your desktop may not have a wireless adapter or it may be disabled.
Run HP Network Check
Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tool:
- Open HP Support Assistant (search for it in Start menu). HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Go to Network and Internet > Troubleshoot.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Look for a wireless adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel Wireless).
- If it’s missing or has a yellow exclamation mark, reinstall the driver.
Update or Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver
Visit HP support site: Official HP® Support
Enter your desktop model number.
Download and install the latest Wireless LAN driver.
Reset Network Settings
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click Network reset.
- Restart your PC after the reset.
Check BIOS Settings
Sometimes Wi-Fi can be disabled in BIOS:
- Restart your PC and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for Wireless LAN settings and ensure it’s enabled.
Try External USB Wi-Fi Adapter
If your desktop doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi or the internal adapter is faulty, consider using a USB Wi-Fi dongle.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
