Hi @russellfb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your unable to access the BIOS and change the operating system from Windows 11 to a Linux distribution on a device, you can follow these general steps. Please note that these are standard instructions and may vary depending on your specific hardware and BIOS version:

Restart Your Computer:

  • Save any open files and restart your computer.

Access BIOS:

  • As your computer starts up, immediately start pressing the specific key to access the BIOS setup. This is typically one of the following keys: F2, DEL, ESC, or F10. The correct key should be briefly displayed during the initial boot sequence.

Navigate BIOS Settings:

  • Once you are in the BIOS setup, use the arrow keys to navigate through the menu.
  • Locate the Boot menu or a similar option where you can adjust the boot order.

Change Boot Order:

  • Set your boot device priority so that it boots from a USB or a DVD with Linux installation media first.

Enable Necessary Features:

  • Ensure that Secure Boot is disabled if you are planning to install an OS that doesn't support Secure Boot.
  • In some BIOS versions, you may need to enable Legacy Support or CSM (Compatibility Support Module) to boot from an older media type like a DVD.

Save Changes and Exit:

  • Save your changes and exit BIOS. This is usually done by pressing F10 and confirming the save.

Install Linux:

  • Insert your Linux bootable USB drive or DVD and your computer should boot from it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Linux.

Take care and have an amazing day!
