It sounds like you're experiencing multiple issues with your HP Pavilion laptop, including rapid battery drain, automatic locking, and display problems. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues:
Battery Drain and Locking Issues:
Check Power Settings:
- Make sure your power settings are configured correctly. Go to "Power & sleep settings" and adjust the settings to ensure that your laptop is not set to sleep or hibernate too quickly.
Battery Health:
- Check the health of your laptop battery. You can usually find this information in the system BIOS or use HP's battery health check tool if available.
Background Processes:
- Check for any background processes or applications that might be consuming a lot of power. Task Manager can help you identify resource-intensive processes.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and power management drivers, are up to date. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop.
BIOS Update:
- Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for power-related issues.
Display Issues:
Graphics Driver Update:
- Update your graphics drivers to the latest version. Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. You can find the latest drivers on the HP support website or the graphics card HP website.
Resolution and Refresh Rate:
- Make sure that your display settings (resolution and refresh rate) are set correctly. Incorrect settings can lead to display problems.
External Devices:
- If you have any external devices connected, such as an external monitor, disconnect them to see if the issue persists.
Safe Mode:
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode and check if the display issues persist. If they don't, it could indicate that a third-party application or driver is causing the problem.
General Tips:
Malware Scan:
- Run a full antivirus and anti-malware scan on your laptop to rule out the possibility of malicious software affecting performance.
System Restore:
- If the issues started recently, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a point when it was functioning correctly.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
