computer and printer have lost connection

Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

the printer  was printing from the computer last night. when I started to print in the next morning, a notice said they were not connected. I turned them of, unplugged both and re-plugged them and restarted them.  Nothing was resolved. I have been using this system successfully almost daily for the last 3 months. ????

Hi Ryan,


Click the Apple menu, and then System Preferences.


Click Print & Scan and

Right-click anywhere inside the Printers window, and choose Reset printing system.


You may need to restart your router though I'm not sure if you're wirelessly printing or what the model of printer or computer is.


Printer is Offline or Not Responding
