Hi @Blueberry7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I Understand that your concern, don’t worry I will help you with this .

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What HP laptop model do you have?
  2. When the screen goes black, can you still see a faint image if you shine a flashlight on it?
  3. Does the picture flicker when you move the lid slightly?
  4. Has the laptop been dropped, bumped, or had pressure put on the lid recently?
  5. Does an external monitor work normally if you plug one in (HDMI/USB-C)?

Your answers will help confirm whether it’s the cable, the hinge, or the display panel.

A few troubleshooting steps you can try now:

1. Test with an external monitor

If the external screen works normally → your motherboard and graphics are fine, and the issue is definitely the internal display cable or panel.

2. Slowly move the lid and watch for flickering

If the picture flickers, flashes, or returns at certain angles → cable issue.

3. Gently support the lid while opening

If applying light pressure near the hinges temporarily fixes the display → that could be loose cable.

I hope this helps.
