@hughesy70, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your HP desktop. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check Connections: Ensure all cables (power, HDMI, etc.) are securely connected to both your desktop and monitor.
Restart the Computer: Sometimes a simple restart can fix display issues. If you haven't already, try turning off your computer, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on.
Hard Reset:
- Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the computer.
BIOS Recovery:
- Turn off the computer.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 1-3 seconds and release it.
- Continue holding the Windows + B keys until the BIOS update screen appears or you hear beeping sounds. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- If you can access the desktop, try updating your graphics drivers through the Device Manager or HP Support Assistant.
External Monitor Test:
- If you have another monitor or TV, try connecting your desktop to it to see if the issue is with the monitor.
