Hi @karlbril,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the details. You're experiencing two related problems on your HP laptop:

1. Firmware Update (HP Inc. - Firmware - 15.33.0.0) Fails to Install

Recommended Steps:

  1. Uninstall the Failed Update Attempt
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall updates.
    • Remove any failed HP firmware update entries.

  2. Manually Install the Firmware
    • Visit HP’s official firmware update guide:
      👉 Official HP® Support
    • Search for your laptop model and download the firmware directly from HP’s site.

  3. Use HP Support Assistant

2. Battery Not Charging (Stuck at 0%, Works Only on Adapter)

This usually indicates a battery hardware failure or firmware/power controller issue.

Try These Steps:

  1. Battery Reset
    • Shut down the laptop.
    • Unplug the charger.
    • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
    • Plug in the charger and try turning it on.

  2. Check Battery Health
    • Press Windows + S, type HP PC Hardware Diagnostics, and open it.
    • Run the Battery Test.
    • If it fails, the battery likely needs replacement.

  3. Update BIOS
    • Go to your laptop’s driver page on HP’s site.
    • Download and install the latest BIOS update.

  4. Check Battery Status in Device Manager
    • Open Device Manager > Batteries.
    • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery > Uninstall.
    • Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall it.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
