I forgot the BIOS password on my HP Compaq Pro 6300 Microtower PC. What can I do, can not boot from the installation disc?

There is definitely a green password jumper on all dc7xxx, Elite 8xxx and Pro 6xxx motherboards as pictured below.

This is an actual picture of a 6300 Pro motherboard and you can plainly see the green password jumper pictured.

It is slightly to the lower left of the SATA ports.  That is what you have to remove to clear the P/W.

Hi:

As long as you didn't set the stringent security option in the BIOS, there is a green BIOS password jumper on the motherboard that has to be removed in order to clear the BIOS P/W.

Please see Appendix B, page 59 of the Troubleshooting Guide at the link below, for how to clear the BIOS password.

Yes. There is such a button. I tried to reset the password with it. Only time is reset, but not the password.

I do not have a green jumper on the board

I missed that.

But the labeling is wrong for this.

I think the labels for eSATA and Password need to be swapped???

Hi, @REO51ST

Yes, I agree with you that the diagram you posted is mislabeled.

I just know these models have a green clear password jumper, and it is located in various places around the motherboard depending on the specific model.

It is colored green to distinguish it from any other jumpers that may be present.

The only way the green clear P/W jumper will not clear the BIOS P/W is if the user set stringent security in the BIOS.

If stringent security was set, removing the green clear P/W jumper will not clear the P/W, and the motheboard would have to be replaced.
